Happy Birthday

Yesterday my son Charlie Jr. (12) said he wanted to make his dad breakfast for his birthday. So when my husband woke up this morning my son had scrambled eggs, with hot sauce and toast with my homemade jelly on it. He was so surprised. He said his eyes filled with tears. What a sweet present from our son--one he will never forget:)
Happy Birthday Charlie Sr. :)

Snowstorm and power loss

We've been getting snow the last few days. Colorado has crazy weather can have sunny 70 degree weather one day and snow the next :) Nice thing about it is that the snow doesn't stay around long-usually just a few days. It started snowing and blowing on Wednesday we got around 8 inches, but with the blowing we get 4 and 5 foot drifts, which wouldn't be so bad, but we have 20+ horses. While some horses have big round bales out there 9 have to be fed daily, and they are all spread out in different pens :)
Now I am only 5'2" (on a good day) so climbing through the drifts to feed these horses can wear me out! LOL and to think some people have to go to the gym to work out.
So I got them fed, but we have a wood stove and of course we weren't prepared, so there I am digging out wood from under a nice large drift to put on my sled and pull back up to the house. I have an Alaskan Malamute and a German Shepard and they are just cocking their heads to the side, looking at me like "what are you doing?" Need to turn those 2 into sled dogs!
I get a nice fire going and just in time---the power goes out! What a day! and do you think our Y2K generator is hooked up? NOPE....lol. Wish I had pictures. What a riot!

Natures Light Featured On National Radio Show

Friday we got a call from Darla Bardelli professional angler and host of Outdoors In America, and Outdoors Arizona. She had tried to PRO Xtreme roll-on and loved it, so she asked if I would be on her radio show. So today I was on at noon our time, and 6pm our time.

I was also featured on the Don McDowell show "Shake, Rattle, and Troll" out of Arizona--so I have had a busy weekend :)

Now we have to get ready for a "Ladies Night Out" that we will be having a booth at in Boulder, Colorado this Thursday. I will post pictures of it after the show. See you later :)

Aromatherapy for Health and Well-Being

Have some fun with aromatherapy by selecting a favorite oil or two, and include them into your daily 'ritual' for inhalation, bathing, skincare and relaxation. Peppermint is a classic morning pick-me-up with a fresh, invigorating aroma. Use drops of peppermint oil on a damp cloth in the shower.

Japanese researchers have even designed alarm clocks that wake you up with energizing aromas!

Need to unwind at the end of your day? Use lavender to relax. Put a drop on a cloth and put it under your pillow while you sleep.

Need to freshen up your environment? Use Eucalyptus, lemon, pine, sage or tea tree.

If your in the mood for romance use oils like rose, jasmine, sandalwood, vanilla.

You can also mix 2-3 oils and make your own 'blend'.

There are many creative ways to experience the benefits of aromatherapy.

Homemade Gatoraid

I found this recipe and decided I would share it with all of you. This is a great way to save money and keep your electrolytes up :)
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. Baking Soda
1/2 Cup Orange Juice
2 Tablespoons sugar
add to 1 litre of water
The nice thing about this recipe is you can flavor it how you want, and make it your own.

Megan's Naturals

A couple of months ago my daughter Megan-she is 9 (pictured with her brother Charlie) asked if she could start making some products of her own. She has grown up watching all facets of Natures Light so I guess I shouldn't have been surprised by her question....lol. She wanted to make lip gloss, so she asked Memere (Laurie her grandmother--Memere is French for Grandmother) and they sat down and ordered some scents and ingredients to make lip gloss.

Next thing you know Megan is asking her dad to make her a "stand" (she had drawn him design plans) so she can sit at the end of our driveway and sell her lip gloss. So the idea for Megan's Naturals by Natures Light was born :) She and I sat down and have started designing her web page, and labels for her products so look for Megan's Naturals coming soon to the Natures Light website. Her first products are Cotton Candy Lip Gloss and Wild Strawberry Lip Gloss.

Don't think Megan is done there, she already has a list of products for us to develop and believe me when I say she is persistent.
